Our Story
Three generations of good produce.
Severt & Sons Produce is family-owned and operated, and has been since the late 1950s.
How it started
From Jacksonville to the SC Farmers Market
Late 1950s
Leonard Severt begins hauling tomatoes from South Florida to Jacksonville, Florida, to sell at his newly opened Farmer's Exchange, operating as Severt & Sons Produce.
The next generation
Leonard's sons Mike and Danny Severt become the owners and operators of the Jacksonville location.
1989
They expand on a seasonal basis to the South Carolina Farmers Market in Columbia.
1995
They sell the Jacksonville location and begin a year-round wholesale distribution facility in Columbia: Severt & Sons Produce Columbia, Inc., originally at the State Fairgrounds.
2010
Severt & Sons relocates when the SC Farmers Market moves from Richland County to Lexington County.
